Accessibility Statement

Last updated: March 2026

Our Commitment

My Benefits Canada is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.

Conformance Status

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.

Accessibility Features

Our website includes the following accessibility features:

  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard, including our eligibility quiz, contact form, and navigation menus.
  • Screen Reader Support: We use semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and proper heading hierarchy to ensure screen readers can interpret our content accurately.
  • Skip Navigation: A "Skip to main content" link is available at the top of every page for keyboard users.
  • Text Alternatives: All meaningful images include descriptive alt text.
  • Colour Contrast: We maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, consistent with WCAG AA requirements.
  • Responsive Design: Our website adapts to different screen sizes and supports zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Multilingual Support: Our website is available in 10 languages to serve Canada's diverse population, with right-to-left (RTL) support for Arabic and Hebrew.
  • Focus Indicators: Visible focus indicators are provided for all interactive elements to help keyboard users track their position on the page.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, some areas may have limitations:

  • Some third-party content (such as embedded analytics scripts) may not fully conform to accessibility standards.
  • Older PDF documents may not be fully accessible. We are working to remediate these.
